After practicing many years in Kennesaw, I followed through with my desire to work closer to home. In doing so, I decided to open my own counseling practice, and one of the first decisions I needed to make was what to call this business into which my heart and soul is poured. I wanted the name to mean something both to me and hopefully to my clients. I kept coming back to a passage from Jeremiah in the Bible, specifically these verses:
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends its roots out to the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries is a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17: 7-8
Read it again and visualize the tree – with deep roots reaching for the one thing it knows it needs to survive and thrive – water. As a Christian, I believe this water is the Living Water, Jesus. I love this picture of being firmly planted in what you know to be true, in good times and in hard times. My desire for myself is to be rooted in the Living Water’s grace and truth, so that when “the heat” and “drought” come, I can remain hopeful and confident. In making this Living Water your confidence, you can live by faith in his providence and promise. You can experience inward peace and satisfaction, desiring holiness and love for others. This is where I want to be and this is what I long for others to experience. Join me on this journey.
*Please note: I work with clients of faiths different from mine. No beliefs or values will ever be imposed on clients.
