Premarital Counseling

Premarital Counseling

Many couples spend thousands of dollars on their wedding, yet don’t invest in counseling to prepare for the blending of their lives. Premarital counseling is a type of therapy that helps couples prepare for marriage and ensure a strong, healthy foundation for the start of your married life together. Premarital counseling is a great proactive choice to learn more about one another while building on your strengths and identifying your growth areas. PREPARE is the leading relationship inventory and skill-building program that is based on solid research, tailors to a couple’s relationship, and provides exercises throughout the program. Using PREPARE, we will address areas such as:

  • Personality differences
  • Communication and conflict resolution
  • Marriage expectations
  • Financial planning and goals
  • Marital beliefs, values, and roles
  • Sex and intimacy
  • Planning for children
  • Family of origin and in-law difficulties
  • Identifying and managing stressors

Typically, the premarital package I offer is as follows: I meet with a couple for an initial information session, after which I will assign each partner to complete the online PREPARE assessment. Once completed, the results are sent to me and we will then meet for 6-8 feedback sessions to discuss the results. If agreed upon up front, I offer a reduced rate for the package, which includes one free “check-up” session after your wedding. Contact me for rates and availability.

Don’t miss the opportunity to build a solid foundation for your new life together!
